In July 2018, I went with a group of about 25 people to Sutherland Springs, Pearsall, Dilley and Laredo, then wrote about our experience bearing witness to the First Baptist Church, where 26 people were killed in a mass shooting, two immigration detention centers and life along the Rio Grande (or Rio Bravo) River. By far, this is the article I am most proud of in my career. I am so glad I had the opportunity to go on this trip and tell this story.
